Somebody please educate me on USPS procedure

A few years back overnighted a certified check to Birmingham for a very important closing -- UPS.

Had a connection with UPS, he arranged for a physical search of the depot and all trucks, nada.

Checked with the bank, and the check has never showed up.

Usually I get good service from usps. Last week I ordered some stuff for my granddaughters. Shipped out of Chicago. Got to Atlanta. But then it went to Baton Rouge La. if it didn’t go to Louisiana it would have been early.

Yeah, I usually don't have any trouble with them. They do occasionally send the packages the long way though. I think one went through Canada.
