Does anyone know what types of guns really get turned into these buy back programs?

I'm sure you get the occasional widow that brings in her deceased Husband's rare 1911 or something but I'm thinking the majority of these guns gotta be total crap.

I could be wrong though.

I know there was an article I read some where where NRA members, collectors and anyone else in the " know" turned in all their broken and damaged guns for the money then turned around and used the money for pro gun activities.
