Someone explain something about Gunbroker

Know what you want and what you are willing to pay and don't be an idiot bidding.

I have bought a couple times from Gun Broker, once on a high end gun. But I only bid on new guns. I also put in 1 price that I'm willing to pay, and which is what I think is fair. You can then have a pretty good idea what it sold for when they were available in a GS. I also like being the first bidder and letting someone chase my bid. That way you can tell who's legit and who's bidding it up to compare prices by looking at the bid history. If I get into a bidding war with someone I usually pass and let them have it when I hit my price. I have seen dealers pull the ad, and their excuse being either the gun has sold in their store, or there was an error in the listing. Doing that saves them from paying the site bid money. I also get the name of the place selling in case they do pull it. You can easily find the guy and call them to find that out, and maybe get the gun, if still available at your price because they don't have to pay the listing money. I did that once and instead of buying the one gun that was pulled, he had a sister gun, and I ended up buying both. If you look at the fine print below the listing you'll see most of the auctions have a disclaimer saying it's up for sale to the public. I do believe there are shills being used for bids, so you have to be wary and do what GeauxLSU GeauxLSU recommended.

I saw them both at the same time. One on there now for buy now of 10K. it wasn't there at the time.
What I'm saying is, the buy it now for $11k may have been up before the $8.5k or vice versa. They may both show in a search now, but you don't know if they were simultaneously open with their respective BIN prices at the same time.
Post the links.

no, I get it. but when I heard mine had shipped, I started watching the site. saw them both active at same time and the 11K one sold and the other was still open. didn't make sense to me then or now. felt like something fishy was going on. but like I said, I don't really use it or regularly follow it so I don't know what I'm missing. clearly a lot of people know their way around and are giving some good examples and advice. I'm just trying to see if these guns can and do, actually sell for the prices I'm seeing and I'm still skeptical.

If you saw two OPEN listings for identical guns, and one had a $8.5k BIN and the other had a $11k BIN price, and THEN later you saw the $11k BIN get sold and the $8.5k BIN was still open, then yes, that makes no sense.

Agreed - which is why I came here looking for perspective on the weird stuff that might be going on behind the scenes. Unless the guy just like the serial number a lot - it didn't make sense. some people have a lucky number maybe.

Do you have the links to the listings?
