Someone explain something about Gunbroker

I bought a Rossi Stainless 20" 357 Mag carbine on GB about 10 days ago, from a top 25 seller.

It showed up on GB with a Buy now price over a $100 less than several current auctions were at the time, for blued guns.

I bought it then, still watching them sell for $200 more than the buy price was on mine.

It does happen.

Same thing for me. I bought a Remington 1100 LW 410 on GB back in December. I got up and saw one had been posted for sale at about 3:00AM. People were already bidding on it at 6:30am when I first saw it. Same thing, the guy posted a buy it now price that was within my range so I dropped the hammer on it. The thing is pristine from 1992 and is unfired. My old dad hunted rabbits with one when I was kid in the mid 1960s and I've wanted to just have one for years.

The $8.5k one sold on the 6th. The $11k one sold on the 17th. The current one listed is open until the 24th.
so maybe they weren't open at the same time? I could be mistaken. didn't think so, but I'm always open to the possibility that I got it wrong. admittedly I'm going in there a couple times a day from my phone and not actually documenting what I'm seeing, but relying on memory. so I could be off (although I would have testified under oath that I saw them both at the same time - but eyewitnesses can be impeached)

you think those are legit sales? not some BS gaming and friends bidding?

A lot of those Alien listings are for new or real low time sellers.

There is more to buying than just the price. Some sellers don't accept credit cards, you will notice bids on their items are either non existent or much lower than listings with established dealers that accept credit cards.
that would make sense. some individual put down their deposit a year ago, just got the gun and tries to sell it either because of the opportunity or they changed their mind about paying so much, but they are not an established seller and don't have the track record or ability to take credit.

I'm going to watch it. but if doesn't bid up to 5K minimum, I bet the guy doesn't sell it. I don't know that he would follow through if he was going to lose money.

I wasn't sure if that was allowed. crazy high prices or crazy low just don't make that much sense to me, unless its on ODT.

Also why I'm saying someone with experience can sell for me and take a cut - I would be a first time seller and not a trusted source. Might make me look fishy.

Again, they have to pay a fee for a sale whether legit or 'friends' so not sure why they would cost themselves money to not sell an item.
Yes, I assume they are legit.
You may have seen what you thought you saw, as you said the search engine is odd (when you get more results for "Alien pistol" vs "alien") so it could very well be someone didn't see the lower priced guns.
I saw a home sell for way under market recently. For some reason the idiot agent had it listed as a 2 bedroom home in the search parameters. It was a 5 bedroom.

He's one that is only accepting money orders as @jeep78 mentioned so he's going to be fishing from a smaller pond...
I personally wouldn't buy anything online with a money order.

fair enough - never discount the possibility of human error.
thank you, by the way, for the extra research and detailed explanations. It helped give me some perspective.
