If you have a minute, I'd like to pm someone about one I have. Looking to see what's original, how common or rare this one is, and value since I'm considering selling it. It's a 1962 (I believe) with the blade bayonet and stock.

Thanks in advance!

When I first got mine, based on the trigger guard and a couple other things I was able to determine via the links on the SKS Boards that my rifle was built from Russian parts in the early 1950's. The story I've heard is that the Russians gave their SKS manufacturing equipment, surplus rifles, and parts to the Chinese during that time- either prior to or during the Korean War. I'm sure the SKS was a significant upgrade for the Chinese.

Pics or it never happened. Lol
Very well. Lol.

What I'd like to know is...the stock looks shellac'd, which is normal, I believe? But it has some faint runs in it. Is that "factory" or has someone tried to refinish it at some point? I'd like to try to work the runs out but I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Is it likely that there are some pretty grains and colors underneath this thing if I strip it? I think that shellac is making everything dark.

After taking it outside, I like it more than I did earlier. Growing on me lol.

Should the buttplate have a serial number on it? Everything else does and all of it matches.
