Speeding ticket

Might be the same one that wanted to chastise me for using my horn in a work zone where he was standing in.

The van in front of me slammed on his brakes and abruptly turned right. He was yelling there was no reason to blow the horn and I politely told him to do his job since there were no brake or turn signals.

They just started this
Was he?...(Of course this depends on how much over the speed limit & endangerment if present) but "his" job at many cases is to use common sense. There are circumstances which they should consider especially if the individual has no tickets, a good citizen, etc. Obviously the LEO didn't want to be at work, having a bad day, or etc....but it wasn't the OP's fault in that respect. And by this LEO issuing a ticket without an explanation or companion of any sort, gives the people a bad taste for the whole law enforcement agencies which isn't good for anyone.
For example my wife actually got a ticket for a headlight being out that just went out at the restaurant we ate that evening. And on the journey home less than 10 minutes, and officer didn't want to hear that the light just went out.....that's the common sense factor. Yes, that give me fuel for resentment for the Canton PD.....not worth the $20 ticket to take a half day off work to go to court. But I did talk with the CO on this which he was very pleasant to talk with....but I still had to pay the ticket.

And just to say I do 100% support all our LEOs; they risk their lives daily to protect us!!!......I have (3) law enforcement officers in my family.
That's my feeling about it. It wasn't intentional, I was sick and less than a half mile from home. No common sense or empathy. Just caught me when I was ill. Low hanging fruit I guess. Had lots of friends in law enforcement over the years, but not so much now.

You DO know that most traffic accidents occur within a few miles of your home, right?

And, studies have shown that "driving while sick" with a cold or flu impairs you to the same level as being .08 on blood-alcohol. Which, for alcohol, is a "per se" DUI offense even if the cop doesn't see you make a single mistake and your driving is perfect.

Policing for profit. Seen more of the mfers out last few days than ever.

Car crashes kill 10 times more people each year than are murdered by bad guys with guns. So tell me again about how enforcing traffic laws --especially in a work zone --is just revenue collection by those MF'ers.

2 crappy tickets....Right after Jimmy Carter chopped the Interstate speed limit to 55, I got a ticket for running 60 on I-55 south of Chicago. Years ago, but IL has always been looking for revenue.

Second one....my son was driving my wife's car and got stopped by a Gwinnett cop, asked him for "proof of insurance" son couldn't find it in the car, because it was his mother's.....went to court with proof of insurance and proof from State Farm that we had been continuously insured for over 10 years, judge yawned, and said guilty, pay $75 fine.
What an asshole. Obviously this was before insurance data was available via computer inside the squad car.
