Spider eyes...............

Last week the wife and I were coming home at around ten and as I pulled in the driveway she screamed, "Look at that!" A spider had built an orb web that spanned from our bushes to an old oak tree 10 feet away and then off to the house which was a good 40 feet away. It was the biggest damn web I have ever seen and must have gone from the ground to 15 feet into the air with no more than a half inch between each spiral of the web. I got out of the car and walked up to it and there was a grey spider about the size of a quarter in the middle of it. I blew on the web, and when I did the spider jumped up and down shaking the entire web and the weird thing was I could actually hear the web moving. We left the web undisturbed, and the next morning it was gone.

I have looked for it every night since, but have yet to see it again. It was by far the craziest web I have ever seen.

Thing probably died after expending all that energy on one web.

If that were true...then there would be a bunch of dead spiders at my house. They don't build them as big as NWS described...but there is some stinking spider that builds a web from my driver's side mirror to the tree limb about 15 feet above the car. And yeah...I love it when I walk into it every morning.

Same thing happens to me EVERY single morning! From the bushes to my car and every day i tell myself "Lil **** aint gonna get me today no sir....." i will walk 20 ft out of the way to get in. And the lil **** has decided to build it in a new spot and in my face it goes.

I'm serious guys if you have one of those new led lights, go try it. DAMN ugly fuzzy wolf spiders, hundreds of em......<-----sober as a judge!

That's pretty wild bro I'm gonna have to find my led and give this a shot. Good luck, and if we don't hear from you again, we will tell all of your bravery!

I used to have one that lived inside the mirror of my truck and would make one every night from my truck to the house. I would catch peeks of him every now and then on the freeway. He would hang out behind the mirror all day and then peek out the crack between the mirror and the housing from time to time. It almost made me sad when he up and vanished one day.

Yeah, I don't know why it never occurred to me to take a pic. My wife had her IPhone and I had my droid, but taking a picture never even crossed my mind. I wish I had.

We have loads of wolf spiders. My granddaughter got my LED light and made that discovery. Those critters blanketed the lawn. Now she says she is afraid to go out in the yard at night. I told her those spiders had always been there, long before we had that light. Lol
