Just got the email on this. Short story: Bartow County rezoning effort could jeopardize a large portion of the Wildlife Management Area. Public meetings scheduled for Feb. 7 and Feb. 9 in Cartersville.

Better show up, speak up, or the such before they decide to take precious hunting land away in favor of development.

Also saw: Deer season changes being proposed in south GA. More interesting than alarming. https://gon.com/news/deer-season-changes-southwest-georgia-counties

Adamjen15 Adamjen15 anything you can share about what was said either side?
Sorry I’m just now seeing your message. I stayed about an hour and basically all the questions asked the same questions and got the same answers. Lol The Neel family wants to sell the wma to the state but they haven’t came to a price agreement. The representative for the Neel family also said that they talk with the state daily trying to come up with a deal.

Adamjen15 Adamjen15 wait really? So they are willing to sell to the state? I was under impression they were going commercial if you will, and it wasn't an option for GA to acquire it. Although I guess you could argue if the state has deep enough pockets they would sell it to the state.
I mean they are willing to sell to the state for the right price. Really I think for more than the state could afford on their own. I really think when they started all this they didn’t think there would be so much push back from the citizens or Bartow county.
