My friend just retired at the age of 59 for a local town and applied for SSDI on his way out. He now receives both.
I have search and as far as I know, he should be able to receive but I'm not completely sure.
Anyone have more information on the matter? I know the ODT Think Tank could help. 🤔

Thanks

Yes, the United States Postal Service (USPS) can receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefit payments:

  • Eligibility
USPS employees can apply for disability retirement if they meet certain requirements, including:
    • Completing at least 18 months of federal civilian service

    • Becoming disabled due to an injury or disease that occurred while working for the USPS

    • Expecting the disability to last at least one year
