Star Bm feeding hollow points.

I been looking at getting one but also heard they don't feed HP very well. Anybody had any problems with the feeding? Is so how did you fix it?
If anyone runs across one around around Jasper or Ellijay please let me know.

I had one in the 1980s. It would not feed any HP's when I got it. With a do-it-yourself feed ramp polish and light chamber throating, it would feed SOME hollowpoints that had a pretty round-nose profile. Remington makes such a 9mm round, and that's what I used.

I recently acquired another one, a late 1970s commercial model, and quickly sold it to a good friend who had never owned a centerfire handgun and wanted something for home defense and vehicle carry, a paramilitary type gun, old-school, and inexpensive. THIS GUN was tested in 2 range sessions, using about 200 rounds of FMJ but only about 16 rounds of hollowpoints. It worked fine with 15 out of the 16, but one CCI round with a Speer Gold Dot HP didn't make it up the feed ramp WHEN MANUALLY DROPPING THE SLIDE with a loaded mag in place. We didn't have any jams when the gun was being fired and cycled on its own.

I did not have enough spare high quality defensive 9 x 19mm rounds to shoot more than two magazines full of them in practice.

Unique choice for EDC for sure.

They will jam with the ‘flatter’ points. Every time I shoot mine it has at least one instance of not returning to battery. I also think they do better with the heavier ammo (Though the extra pointy Hornady 115 HPs never had an issue). Polishing the ramp helps.

Don’t dry fire. It could break the firing pin. Don’t carry hammer down with a round in the chamber as the Star lacks a firing pin block.

I'm having second thoughts about it being my EDC. Saw a few gen3 Smith's that would be a way better option for EDC. Just getting bored with polymer frames.
