I got a good price on a weatherby 307 action to start my 7mm PRC build. Or for just a little more I can buy a Bergara Ridge and 7 mm PRC. The difference is just a few hundred bucks. The plus side is that can have a rifle to shoot immediately and then just put my own stock on it and accurize it a bit. However, I don't know about their actions but since the rifles are decent I'm sure they have to be halfway decent.

So the question remains buy the Weatherby 307 action and start from scratch or buy a Bergara Ridge with a 22 inch barrel rifle already chambered in the cartridge that I want and then start to fiddle with that one. I hear a great deal of good reviews on Bergara so there is that. I do know their barrels are great but that's all I know.

What say yee ODT public?

Do what? No comprende amigo!
What are you shaking your head at? Got to start somewhere! The bergara B-14 action is said to be a good one and it's on the 700 footprint so the options are basically there for everything that would be for a 700 Remington. Do you ever have anything positive to add to my questions?

I always thought smh was slap my head, but the youngsters tell me it's shaking my head. I'm not going to say what I thought FTW meant.

OP, these things don't matter. Just do whatever strikes you today. You'll eventually take the other paths as well.

You are probably right. I am having a time of it.

If you want a project, you can definitely get yourself a project and be putting it together for a year. If you just want a rifle you can be shooting next week, there are a lot of options out there. Just decide which you want. I've wanted to assemble a bolt action rifle just to do it, but haven't gotten to it yet.
