I did file a police report with the incomplete serial number (I know roughly when it was bought, so I could give the serial pre-fix based on date of manufacture) just in case dude gets picked up again and happens to have the gun on him. I know that is doubtful.
I will be hitting the pawnshops in the area, another long-shot, and no, I don't expect anybody to GIVE me the gun back without a complete serial #, that's why I will continue to offer to BUY the gun back at whatever asking price.
