Found a good deal on a two tone Kimber Pro Carry. Think I should get it? Its cheaper than the SR and the Springfield.
I wouldn't. Kimber is known to have issues with function and finish on it's guns. Function can usually be cured (not always) with Wilson Combat magazines. If the gun has a painted (Kimpro) finish it's likely to chip and peel. But worst of all, Kimber us universally known to have awful customer service. If your gun isn't right you might as well take it to a gunsmith and pay for repairs.

In comparison, Springfield provides a lifetime warranty on it's weapons regardless of whether you're the first or tenth owner. I'd choose a Springfield every time.

No matter what brand you go with, you should consider weight. I've had a bunch of 1911's but I'll only carry a lightweight with an alloy frame. That's just my personal preference...not sure if it matters to you but the difference is about a half a pound which is significant to me when it's on my hip.

True. For carry, a lightweight 1911 is key. If you go with an all steel version you'll be trading it off later due to the weight. This is also why I like Springfield (and some others) that install a ramped barrel in their lightweight frame models.

there certainly is something to be said for a alloy framed commander, officer/defender size 1911 and carry.
nice flat weapon and lightweight, thats a good combo.
I got a Para alloy Commander and a Springfield armory officer alloy frame and usually IF I am in the 1911 carry mood that's what gets strapped on.
I forget but I believe the Springfield is like 21 ounces with unloaded mag?

I believe the Springfield is around 28 ounces. For contrast, a full sized steel framed version is closer to 40 ounces.

STI has several, if you're not looking for an exact barrel length of 4.25". Most of theirs are 4" or thereabouts.

The following models:
Guardian
Tactical SS
Elektra
Lawman
Escort
HEX Tactical SS

The Ranger II is out of production, but still easy to find in 9mm. I own one in .45ACP and it's a great handgun.

Got my curiosity up!
I just pulled it out of the safe and with a empty mag (with an attached rubber bumper) its weight is 27.1 ounces, that's also with the Hogue wrap around rubber grip, it came with a set of thin wooden grips.
so I would imagine the out of box stock weight would hover in the 24- 25 Ounce weight?

Interesting. Which model do you have?
