So why doesn't Trump tell all the ATF employees to snatch those patches off their uniforms and body armor and replace them with either ICE or Border Patrol patches?
In other words tell them good overpaid privileged gubment employees that if they want to keep them gubment jobs then they are now reassigned to one of the two agencies we actually need right now?

well who would enforce things like bump stock bans for the trump administration? in December 2018 Trump had to have someone add it to the NFA.
So are you saying you plan to judge Trump on one reactionary move from over five years ago? I seriously doubt Trump knew a bump stock from a bipod before Mandalay Bay. But he was surrounded by swamp creature OPPORTUNISTS who always seize on every tragedy like that to push their own agendas. Have you noticed that none of the old Trump cabinet has been back? There's a very valid reason for that.
Trump lived most of his life in deep blue NYC. So the fact that he shows any support for Second Amendment issues is miraculous. He got intentionally bad advice from **** bag career politicians before all the facts were available. BTW...the facts from Mandalay Bay STILL ain't available to the public. Point is... anyone can make a mistake.

I'm just pointing out, it is a tool he is not willing to consider getting rid of until maybe more towards the end of his term, i voted for Trump because of obvious reasons. I know the bump stock ban was a knee jerk reaction, but trump is more worried about the economy than the ATF stopping bubba spraying his psa into a tree. The ATF may be redirected away from going after civilian guns during his term, but i believe he will use them to impose import restrictions on alcohol, tobacco, and firearms from other countries from his SAYNCTSHUNSS.

Well as I already said Trump is not a gun guy. So that doesn't surprise me at all. My first (late) wife was born in Queens and grew up there and Long Island. So I have more experience than I ever wanted with New Yorkers especially Puerto Rican New Yorkers. Anyway those people don't understand guns at all. To them cops and criminals have guns and that's it. On a side note that's also why I feel like I understand Trump's mentality more than the average voter. He's a New Yorker and one thing those people never get tired of us bragging especially about New York. So yeah sometimes he's a little bit much. In fact during his first campaign/presidency he reminded me a lot of the Seinfeld episodes where Steinbrenner is talking to George and just rambling on. But you gotta admit that this time around he is WAY more focused. Maybe they upped his Adderall dosage. I don't know and it doesn't matter to me .
As far as ATF goes I don't see it being possible to abolish it or any other fed agency. Those ticks are bored in too deep and for too long. Kinda like striking down a law. Once it's enacted it's pretty much set in stone. I think the best we can hope for is a neutered ATF with a much smaller budget and much less authority. And then you can probably expect NFA wait times to go back to around a year.
Petty bureaucrats don't just give up and go away. I believe whatever we as gun owners manage to "get back" will be done at the Fed Court/ SCOTUS level.

If you think about the way southerners view yankees (and Noo Yoorkers in particular), that's the way most yankees and new yorkers have always viewed Trump. Going back long before he was in politics.

So, you could say Trump is a New Yorker squared.
