Suppressed 300 blackout subsonic....not quiet.

I've stood next to .300 Blackout AR's, subsonic ammo, run through suppressors before.
They sounded nice and quiet to me. As good as any centerfire round can be from a normal-length can threaded on a gun's muzzle.

Question: What were the circumstances of shooting it? Were you at an established range, where you are used to hearing loud noises? It might sound quieter there. Were you in your own basement or garage? It will usually sound a lot louder under those circumstances. If you take it out in the front yard and shoot it at 3 a.m., it will sound very, very loud!

I stepped out back and sent 20 rounds into a tree at about 10 yards. I was expecting just a little louder than the action cycling, not what I herd. Do they get that quiet or was I just wishful thinking?

At 10yards??

How the heck are you supposed to be able to differentiate between the firing noise and the impact into the tree??

If you are shooting at something or have other trees in front of you the sound will reflect back to you. Go shoot in an open field, bet it will sound different. And yeah unless you are shooting an mp5sd with subsonics rounds or a suppressed bolt action 22 you are gonna hear alot more then just action
