Yes, you can call the ATF's NFA division at 304-616-4500

Be sure to have your can's serial number in hand. They may also ask you from who and to whom it's being transferred. they'll only be able to tell you if it's still pending or approved, though. they're not gonna be able to tell you where you are in line.

Further word of advice: if you're not at 8 months waiting there's no point in calling. There's no way you'll be approved yet.

Why? It's not their fault the ATF moves like a drunk slug.

What other business in the world holds ALL your money, including sales tax, for an extended period of time, and tells you to PO if you ask about the progress of your purchase?

They gots these thingies called computers these days, how about putting some pressure on our elected officials and MAKE those gooberment employes do their job, and have a search-able database, much like live inventory at nearly every interrnet sales site.

Yes, the dealers share responsibility!

Not arguing that the whole process sucks, but do you want dealers bogging down these folks "processing" our stamps? If every dealer called weekly for every pending stamp, then called every customer to give a status......it would only slow the processors down to the point that they would have to pull people away to answer the phone.

@Nonliberal how many stamps you got processing currently, estimate.....400-500?

Maybe point your frustration towards emailing your representative weekly, regarding the HPA.

This is a service the dealers really should be doing, but they are less than interested.
J jeep78 Can I ask what you do for a living? Reason I ask this is how would you feel by doing a repeated task every week and not getting paid for it?
That is basically what you are asking of the dealers. It would take them vast amounts of time to call the NFA and then call or email the customers to inform them, yep, your still Pending!
Plus as it has already been said, this would make the NFA almost grind to a stop as they would be busy answering the thousands of phone calls daily to do this update search. I would rather the NFA spend it's time to process the applications than answer a phone. Yes, it would be nice to be able to go online and see where your form is at, but hopefully with in a short time frame, the HPA 2017 will pass and we won't have to worry about it.

No, there are such things as dealer organizations that can and do influence our lawmakers, I have participated in several such organizations, they do work.

The dealers can collectively pressure for changes to closely track all activity, you can bet the BBatboys already have all that info, they just don't share it.

As I mentioned, only rinkydink internet businesses have no real time inventory. Is our government worse than some Itsy seller?

I definately DON"T take a customer's money and hold it for close to a year, and offer NO service in exchange!
