This is old news, but I still like the video. I would think most here would agree, but those that don't can ignore all of the facts and talk about why it would never work in the U.S. To the later I would ask, are we that far behind the Swiss as a civilized nation? If so where's the problem, the guns or society? If society, why are we trying to fix our problems by targeting the guns and not society?

Just my thought for the day, enjoy.

The US is behind Switzerland in some areas, but trying to compare the two is impossible. I've lived in the US most of my life, but I've also lived in Switzerland for a good bit. Their firearms culture is much different from ours here. It was borne of military necessity, and hasn't really bled over to a personal or individual right in the same way it has in the US. Firearms are for sport and military duty. There is little to no emphasis placed on firearms for personal defense.

I guess you missed the guy's bumper stickers in the gun locker. Your argument is the same as I spoke of in the OP.....it's not the same culture.....they have a different type of society.....they think differently that we do and so on. I guess I lived around different minded people when I was there. The folks that I lived around were no different in the way they thought of firearms than anyone that come through our facility on a daily bases.

I'll even give into your argument for argument's sake. If all of that is true, my question remains the same, why target a gun and not the problems with the culture, society and thought process?

Sorry for the Google-contaminated link.
You can find this news easily in any search engine. It was all over the AM & FM news channels on the radio the other day. The nation of Switzerland has passed a referendum to embrace European-style gun control.
The Swiss voters approved it; they will now restrict firearms and accessories, and have mandatory registration.
This was based on pressure from the European Union, even though Switzerland is not a member of the E.U. The E.U. in Brussles threatened Switzerland (blackmail) with economic isolation and non-cooperation in other matters (tourist and business travel, investigation of terrorism and apprehension of fugitives) if they didn't change their weapons laws.

Thanks for the info. Hadn't heard about it.

Was there a reason for resurrecting the 2014 thread??

The USSA has the third highest firearm murder rate in the world. If you remove just 5 cities (Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, New York, and Washington DC from the calculation, we rank third from the bottom.
