Today’s riflescopes have far more features and capabilities than previous generations of scopes. In the right hands those features can make you a far more capable rifle shooter. But a shooter must understand how to use the features and functions for them to be of any use. Worse, not understanding how to use your scope’s features and functions can actually make you a less capable shooter.

This course covers all aspects of riflescope equipment selection, use, and maintenance. It not only covers the fundamentals of riflescopes (which by themselves can be quite confusing to a lot of shooters!) but also more advanced topics to help you squeeze all the potential out of both your equipment and your shooting skills.

This course covers such topics as:
  • Red dot vs fixed power vs variable power
  • Basic ballistics
  • Mounting and mounting systems
  • How to zero a riflescope
  • Recommended zero distances for different applications
  • How to set and use Zero Stop
  • How to adjust for distances, hold over, etc.
  • How to record adjustment and setting data in a log book
  • How to adjust for conditions such as wind
  • Equipment cleaning, care, and maintenance
  • Reticle and adjustment types (mil-dot, MOA, etc.) and their advantages/disadvantages
  • How to estimate distance to target
  • How to use your scope’s advanced features and functions
  • Differences between first focal plane (FFP) and second focal plane (SFP) scopes
