So, I've owned boats over the years in several different states, but now own my first in the great state of Georgia. I get a post card in the mail this week from the county board of assessors wanting me to fill out a Marine Personal Property Tax Return. This is a first for me and I have no idea what it is or does.... all though I'm fairly certain it ends with me giving them @$$.. more money!!
Bought the boat new in May from dealer and paid GA sales tax....
Anybody know anything about this or what kinda money we're talking???
Any help appreciated

Yep. You get to pay property tax on it now. What ever county the boat is stored in for the most time( in any given year ), is the county you should be paying the taxes to. The tax commissioner will send people out and lock your **** down. Then they will auction it off. Seen it done quite a few times. The new people in Hall Co have been on top of this, with little remorse.
