The first dude that was shot was really slow on the draw but gave the bad guy a target to shoot. I hope he wasn't one of the victims...
I've looked...they ain't saying nothing about the shooter. Maybe they don't want to provide the fuel for other wackos or maybe they just don't want to admit who and what the shooter is.
It looks like a black guy off the street, probably with a stolen shotgun he got from burglarizing homes or parked cars, using it to rob a church of the offering / collection money.
I won't assume that this was a "massacre" in the making that was prevented by the church volunteer security team. They did stop an armed robbery, though. That one punkass thug's criminal career ended right there. (At a cost of 2 good guys' lives).

Latest has it that it was a parishioner at the church, but no motive.
All the armed folks were church security. He shot them first then you can bet he would have gone after the rest of the folks.
The shot the 3rd guy made (the one that stopped the fight) is impressive.
