the best handgun

I was being a bit facetious but truthfully, the G19 is the best all around gun I have ever owned. I have bought/sold/traded quite a few guns over the years and truthfully enjoy shooting revolvers more than semis.... but.... for capacity, ease of carry, and flat out rounds to size, its really tough to beat the 19. I love shooting revolvers, but when it comes to implicitly trusting a gun, the g19 wins hands down. As far as reliability, I have fired thousands of rounds through quite a different glocks with absolutely zero malfunctions of any kind. It is the only gun I treat like a high point, clean once in a blue moon, and it still runs flawlessly. Just my .02

I think the best carry, or nightstand gun is the one you feel confident behind, be it wheelie or auto. I have a sig 2022 in 9mm wearing a streamlight tlr-1 currently. I DO agree with needing a light for seeing your target (or non targets as well) be it with an attached light (cue the duct taped mag lights to a gun pics) or in your off hand. I prefer a two handed grip, so I go attached. But that's just my opinion, for what it's worth

Not necessarily the best since that's just a matter of opinion, but these are my favs for each purpose:

I do alternate and carry the Glock some too, minus the 33 round mag and flashlight.

That's a big ole' nightstand to fit that extended mag! Nice nighthawk too! Been hunting a g19 myself to see if I liked it, had a 23, but not really in love with 40 cal guns. Those the warren sights?

Thanks! I had a 23 too and traded it off to get a 19 for the same reason. Very happy with it. The sights are TruGlo.

I shall continue the hunt then! (Hint hint anyone with a pre-loved glock 19 gen 3 or 4...) or I'll just get one new when my tax return hits, torn between it and one of my "must have someday" CZ 75 SP0-1!!

For carry, a Centennial-style revolver is it. It will go bang even if jammed into the bear or zombie on top of you. A pistol is a single-shot in such a scenario regardless of how many are in the mag. If you can't get it done with five and fast feet, you're out of time anyway.

For the nightstand handgun, it's still a revolver but you can go an exposed hammer if you want. A 1911, Hi-Power, CZ, or other pistol that points naturally without having to train to use only that specific brand would work as well; i.e. not a Glock. You can go with the exposed hammer or pistol because, like soldiers and cops, you will have the piece out and ready to fight.

Personally, I try to go with one type of handgun for all. It just makes everything easier. Double-action S&W revolvers will cover everything from squirrels to crackheads to bears. You could do 1911s or CZs also, but thats about it. Maybe Glocks, if there's a rimfire conversion that is likely to do sub-inch at 25 yards, but I have not seen it.
