When asked why I shoot 7.62x51 instead of 5.56 I reply that people have a tendancy to want to hide behind things when you shoot at'em.

THAT IS RIGHT U S A FOUND THAT OUT IN DESERT STORM 223 NOT MUCH WHEN HAVE SHOOT THRU WALLS VEHICLES ETC. MILITARY BRING M 14 OUT OF THE COSOMLINE PUT BACK IN ACTION, PLUS YOU SHOOT A MAN WITH OLE 308 HE IS DOWN POSSIBLY NOT WITH 223

Just wondering why not a round similar to a .243 (6mm) ? Would weight be an issue compared carrying the same number of rounds as 5.56 ?

We used to issue a full battle rifle and a carbine. Now, just a carbine, but will soon issue a full battle rifle?

our newer enemies are less civilized now so the round we use must be more deadly in both fmj, soft point, and hollow point
