Last 40 days have been busy. Every summer starting after the 4th of July I and many of my neighbors gather and load our summer double stock steers and ship them to the feedlots. My family and those of 3 more ranches have ranched here in North central Oklahoma since 1896. They helped each other then and we still help each other today. 4&5 generations deep.
Just over 23,000 head of cattle shipped off of 4 ranches this summer. As usual we had heat, rain, wind and fire. No injuries but several hangovers and a few got their pride hurt from getting bucked off. Several young horses ended up becoming solid ranch horses. A few didn’t make the cut.
All the kids were involved and did great. I’ll miss them when school starts back up. Thought I’d share some pictures my daughters and I took with you.
