The Hi Point Thread

I tried to make mine ftf and fte by rapid firing and running 5 different types of ammo through it. Ran like a sewing machine while guys beside me were disassembling their high end ones for fte and ftf. It is my truck gun so if it falls out on the way to the lake and gets ran over I just send it back for anew one. It is the fat ugly girl in my harem but shoots like a champ. Not ashamed of it.

PISTOLS:
I saw a Hi Point pistol in a gun shop for $149 several years ago.
I asked to fondle it.
The sights were excellent. Big, colorful, fast to acquire.
The frame in front of the trigger guard had an accessory rail, and the gun store was selling a laser sight unit for $40 extra. Seemed like a decent home defense gun for somebody on a shoestring budget.

I didn't buy it. I wasn't really even shopping. But if somebody wanted a recommendation for a home defense handgun on a really tight budget and 200 bucks was their upper limit no matter what, I'd consider sending them in that direction.

RIFLES:
My neighbor has an older Hi Piont 9mm carbine
We've taken it shooting together.
It wirks fine. Totally reliable. Much better practical accuracy than any normal defensive pistol, even with the xarbine's iron sights. The trigger was heavy and gritty, but that would matter more in a handgun than this carbine.

If I had to choose between a hipoint and a sharp stick I would take the stick.

I bought one from a buddy who was hurting for cash. Cut it up with the chop saw and threw it in the trash.
