The threaded bolt catch hole is nice because I HATE installing roll pins!

The Maten lower uses standard AR15 lower parts. It came with rear takedown and from pivot pins already installed. The rear takedown detent and spring are installed through a hole in the bottom of the receiver and held in place by a threaded set screw instead of being inserted from the back and held in by a rear plate like on an AR15

That's pretty cool about the rear takedown detent and spring. Sometimes I tap the rear of the receiver, trim the spring and capture it with a set screw.

It came with the dust cover installed and doesn’t have a forward assist.

Proprietary barrel nut that doesn’t have to be lined up with the gas tube. More pics of that in the next post.

I’ve heard of people doing that, but I never had the guts to try it! LOL!

I bought a Gen2 Aero Precision lower awhile back and it actually came factory threaded like that.

Nothing to it! Just tap a little ways in and trim a coil or a half coil on the spring until the tension on the detent is right! Gotta trim the spring to make room for the set screw.

More Maten upper pics.

I forgot to get a pic, but the upper comes with a special barrel nut tool that will work with a torque wrench to get it tightened down properly.

Upper with the barrel nut. You can see that it won’t interfere with the gas tube regardless of how it’s clocked.

I just built two guns with Next Level Armament Match Sets that has all those little features. Hex screw for the rear take down detent and the spring did need trimmed, the extra hex screw under the grip to put a little tension on on the rear take down pin to take up slop and the hex head for the bolt catch. They were the Match Sets I purchased for 225 per set. I took an ass chewing for my initial review of the units when I inspected them for the first time. Like I said they are some of the best forged sets for the money I have ever seen. Fit and finish were outstanding, no slop so I didn't need the hex screw under the grip. The two rifles I built one 6.8 and a 5.56 and they both turned out to be as good of builds that I have done with 500 dollar sets. I went back to order a few more sets but they stopped selling Match Sets for that price. To bad they were great sets for a great price. ( I'mmmm Baaaaack! )
