"In great shape for it's age"? What the hell are you selling, Grandpa?

How can you tell the age of firearm without searching the serial number? Look for wrinkles and age spots.

Some folks just have to contentious. Now, if you wanted to be really anal retentive, you'd find out how many of each of those vehicles were produced. For instance if there were 500 Pontiacs made, but 5000 Fords made... I don't have to explain the math to you.

I believe that they're talking about the percentage of a particular make that has over 200,000 miles. So if 10% of Pontiacs had over that mileage, it would rank higher then if 5% of Fords had over 200,000 miles, even though the total number of Pontiacs would be way lower.

It doesn't matter how many were made because the statistics presented state that x% of all that were made reached 200,000 miles.

"There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." ~ Disrieli

The point is that your post is a non-sequitur. That's why it's contentious. My experience belongs to me, no one else. You were attacking my experience by using "statistics" drawn from Consumer Reports and Clark Howard. The statistical averages have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with my experience.

Furthermore, the statistics you posted have no context. Who collected the data? Who analyzed the data? Who paid for the data collection? What was the sample size? What repairs were considered or ignored during the 200,000 mile period? Like D Discollector mentioned, how many units of each model were produced? What were the other variables?

If you're going to argue which vehicle has the greatest probability of attaining the highest number of miles, you gonna be needin a lot mo stuff. :thumb:
