The shock and awe of trying to buy ammo right now.

When will ammo prices and availability return to normal?

It's an observation about human hoarding behavior, and has nothing to do with politics. However, you are free to interpret it as a call to socialism. You don't have to worry, I'm not treading on you or anything.
You described people as being reactionary. That in itself is a political term meaning far right wing.

This isn't meant to be a politically charged response, but I'm sure people will interpret it that way. Ya know, I keep seeing people blaming the ammo situation on liberalism. Let's be honest here - it's reactionary non-liberals who are actually doing most of the ammo hoarding. There is plenty of ammo to go around if gun owners would get back to sane and rational buying habits.
There are no US made primers to be found at sane prices. Even by ammo makers. I know for a fact that they are having to go overseas to get primers.

Yes, demand is up. But component production is down. Worldwide, thanks to covid shutdowns.
Amursk arsenal in Russia had to demill surplus corrosive primed ammo and reload cases with no-steel-penetrator bullets for civilian sales.
I received 3 emails this morning about Federal discontinuing ammo lines. They cannot source aluminum cases.
Do not blame hoarders for the lack of ammo.

Yes - component production certainly plays into it. But I am absolutely going to lay part of the blame on hoarding behavior. I regularly see it all the time - individuals and price gouging retailers scooping up all the ammo they can get their hands on, and in many cases, flipping it on gunbroker or elsewhere for ridiculously inflated prices.

In your expertise, what makes a hoarder?
