Don't get your hopes up. Component prices are way up, even to the manufacturer. Prices will probably take a very long time to even get close to what they were in 2019.
Yup, it's a long road to recovery this time around, since it wasn't just a spike in demand but a reduction of supply at the same time.
I heard on Gun Talk Radio that at least 3 companies are building primer plants in the US as we speak, since a large percentage of them come from overseas right now.
There are only 4 US primer manufacturers, all of which had to reduce capacity due to COVID restrictions. Also, the Remington plant was shut down for a while due the company's bankruptcy, and the buyer (Vista Outdoors, who owns Federal and CCI) is just getting it back up to capacity again.
Until they get primer production cranking there's no way they will catch up on the backlog they have unless there's a huge drop-off in demand, and with millions of new gun owners looking for ammo, that doesn't seem very likely.
