I knew it'd be in the old recipe box. Blackies pepper relish recipe. A word of caution. Make sure you wear gloves when you simmer and stir the peppers. I still remember the first time I made this stuff without them.

The Varsity is a 5 star restaurant compared to Brandi's.

That doesn't mean that I won't regret eating it. But at least I'll enjoy it before the intestinal strife.

Carolina is the way to go. However, sometimes I like a dog with just mustard, onions and kraut . Of course I could eat warm kraut by the fork fulls. Love it!

The best dogs in Georgia are Brandi's ( which used to be Betty's ) Hotdogs over behind the Hospital on Church Street Ext NW in Marietta. The chili is spicy hot and they are freaking delicious! If you have never been and plan to go plan to wait and get three. They are also addictive. Mustard, onion, chili and slaw are the only way to fly there. The slaw complements the spicy chilli.

Every great hot dog I have ever had always been in hole in the wall joints or small gas stations up here in Virginia. Not the ones off the rollers like Quick Trip but little mountain back road stations that make their own chilli.

I was working in Va Beach a couple of years ago and we went to a hole in the wall place called Kevin's Dog House. It was in a warehouse district and they had a long line. It was worth it. Great chili dogs and fries. Last time I was up they had moved closer to the beach near the naval air station. The locals said the food wasn't the same.

I know it sounds weird, but BBQ sauce of your choice instead of ketchup. And finely minced onions. Whatever dog you like, but try BBQ sauce and onions. Thank me later.
