you do understand that when dhs orders ammo it is delivered over an extended period? Yeah, I know. But what are they doing with the ammo? Why are they buying a 20 year supply at the rate the armed forces have been using for the last ten years while we are at war? What do they know that we don't???

You also realize that dhs probably uses more ammo annually than Any other government agency including the military right?

DHS buying 2 billion rounds hasn't helped. What does dhs need with 2 billion rounds of hollow point ammunition? They either need it for use against the people, or our government is using our tax dollars to circumvent the Constitution by creating an artificial scarcity of ammo rendering the 2nd amendment useless. Either way, it's bad news but that's what Communists do, they disarm and eliminate

Besides several law enforcement acadamies DHS also include the coast guard, US customs, Border Patrol, INS, Federal Protective Service, TSA, Federal law enforcement training centers, domestic preparedness, FEMA, Secret Service, and about 30 other agencies. DHS is the third largest cabinet department in the government and employs a hell of a lot of guys with guns.

^^this . Exactly. Im sure DHS charts been posted. just to recap. dHS is well DHs, TSA, US Coast Guard, Botder Patrol, Immigration, Secret Service, and all the Federal law enforcement traini g centers !! YES Virginia they use alot of freaking ammo, always have.

I was at academy sports in Hickory NC today and ammo shelf was packed with everything. looks like it is getting better to me....

Then why hasn't this 1.6 billion ammo buy made news before? If all of these agencies are and have been using this ammo why is this now news? In Forbes Freaking magazine of all places?

It's making news now because of the gun control bills proposed in congress. Because of the gun control push by gun control advocates. Funny thing tho that gun control bills are proposed nearly every year by gun control advocates in congress. Go check the news for the last decade and you wont see all the hype you have seen about gun control since the election of 2008. Kinda like the bills proposed to appeal the 22nd amendment.

more scare hype stories. Ammo is being producted, shipped and purchased. With all the frency that both the Sandy shooting and resulting legistlation uproar has caused, doomsday predictions (along with stupid stupid TV show), Walking Dead (love it) ammo is, as you know, being purchased faster then it can be provided. I do not go looking for ammo, but when I am at a store like Wally World I go take a peak. The other day Wally in Jasper had 9mm 100 round bulk packs, .45 bulk, .22 100 rounders, etc. Even had 2 of those $175-$400 5.56 420 round cans in the cabinet (but not after I saw them). Yes, later in the day most was gone but it was there and as the days go on I bet more will show up. The buyers will eventually have enough, run out of money (unless they are flipping it for profit as many are doing) or realize the panic is over.
