This is some bs!!!

Haha yea...reciprocity in NY. NY barely recognizes their own permits. From what I understand, they also have the strictest punishments for breaking the gun laws. I grew up in CT. Lived there for 25 years. The NE is HORRIBLE with their gun rights.

I found that very surprising when I was doing my initial research...Birthplace of the rebellion and now they won't even recognize our GWL.

Yea I thought that was weird too when I first found that out. Do they require a training class for their permits or something?

Not just NY. As someone else already said South Carolina is the same way. If you want to visit, you have to abide by their laws. No matter how stupid you think they are.

It would really suck getting locked up for something you believe in . I mean it's our God given right. That's the way I see it. But then again no one wants to take a trip to the pokey.

I believe they do...Same way with Virginia where my parents live. Birthplace of the country with names like Washington, Jefferson, and Madison all hailing from VA and they also have become a shadow of what they were.

New York acknowledges no other states permits:

These states recognize New York permits:Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Wisconsin

New York recognizes permits from:None

been awhile since I've been in New England but they have always been crazy with gun rights up there and it certainly get better after the shootings

New York is not part of New England. New England is made up of 6 states. Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine

Ok so long story short my wife and I were planning a trip to New York to visit my family and introduce them to our new baby when he is born. If this is accurate I refuse to go there. I haven't had any reason to research gun laws in New York until now obviously because I WAS planning a trip there.....http://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/state-laws/new-york.aspx...... according to this if I go to New York then I am SOL when it comes to carrying my weapon even though I have a permit because New York doesn't acknowledge permits from the state of GA. I don't understand why half of the US acknowledges their permits but they acknowledge NO other states permits. WHY IS THIS??? Does anyone know any more about this and if there is a way to get around this? I don't want to go there with my wife, newborn, and three year old of I have no right to carry protection. People in that city are CRAZY!!!

Its NY bro. The noretheast has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. Take from a native born New Englander. When I was growing up in Massachusetts my father wanted to get me a 20 gauge shotgun for hunting. You have to go thru a hell of a process to get a gun there. In some case's it can take over a year to be able to acquire a permit JUST TO BUY A GUN. Never mind being able to carry it. When I was working as a security guard at Carter's warehouse in Braselton I knew one of the construction supervisors from New York. He had a carry permit which he had to jump through hoops to get. And it only allowed him to carry to and from the range as well as if he had went hiking or hunting and that was it. And it pretty much only covered his county.

why the hell would anyone go there?

NY is actually a wonderful state to visit. NY city is one city everyone should see at least once in their life and then stay the hell away. I remember the first time I went to the big apple was back in the day when everytime you stopped at a red light a guy would run out with a newspaper in one hand and a bottle of windex in another and would wash your window and hold out his hand for his "tip". My father always told them to **** off. Ahh good times.
