This is some bs!!!

I would guess in state transfers would need to be done by FFL but a Yankee can correct me on that. They have registration up there so there must be additional steps to buy or sell.

You could always tell the relatives to come to you. In my experience, family traditionally goes to the new baby because traveling with a newborn is a pain.

It would really suck to miss the baby's first steps because you are slow dancing with Bubba in cell block D.

Heck, you could miss graduation if you get a judge trying to make a perverted point.

For those that asked about SC:

Yes a training class is required. It used to be a full 8 hours with 4 in class and 4 on the range. Now there is no stated minimum time but the course of instruction must exactly meet SLED requirements. You have to shoot a 50 round course of fire which includes from low ready and holstered from 3-15 yards. The ONLY way to get a non-resident permit is if you own property in the state. As I live in GA & SC and own property in both states (I'm a GA resident), I did the deed and got an SC permit. Our "peers" in SC generally think our permit is worthless since we do not require training so I do not expect that to change anytime soon. It's a goofy state to be sure...

I was staitoned in upstate NY in the past 5 years and under no circumstances can you bring a gun in to NY. If you move to NY state and get a carry permit which is a pain but at least north of Syracuse was not to hard. You had to do a lot of paperwork and wait 3-4 months but I didn't know of anyone who was disapproved. You do need a training course. I didn;t because I am active duty military and got a memo form my commander saying I had received training on weapons handeling or whatever. If you move to NY you have to transfer our own handguns to a FFL and then back to yourself. A carry permit in NY state is not good in the city and surrounding counties. Shotguns and rifles with a 7 round capacity can be bought by anyone 18 at Walmart as of 2010 there were no restrictions on possessing ammunition. Also New York is not in New England, and New England gun laws are not all crazy. MA and Connecticut are. Vermont has no restrictions and any one can carry concealed, CC permit does not exist. New Hampshire and Main are very gun friendly as well.

What about a black powder pistol? Aren't black powder guns legal for even a felon to own? I can get online right now and order one and have it come straight to my door. Could they stop me from carrying then?

NY and NJ consider them firearms, same as bb guns. You need a firearms ID card to purchase a red ryder in NJ.

Trying to be cute and skate around the edge of the law will just get you tossed in the pokey for the courts to deal with. You aren't doing yourself any favors.

A BB gun??? You have got to be kidding me!!! What type of childhood would you have if it weren't for that old daisy or red ryder??? I'm not gonna go this has given me more than a handful of reasons to be grateful to live in GA!

Oh you could have one, but your parent's would have had to supplied the police chief with 2 character references, fingerprints, $70, and a background check to get it.

Sadly, I'm not kidding.
