Here is what I see...you interjected yourself to defend a person that couldn't defend themselves...you stopped the violence at that moment...calmed yourself down after the threat was deescalated and got the police involved...you made it out alive. Unfortunately you can't save the world but you do what you can when the window of need presents itself. I don't see any justifiable reason to second guess yourself.
