I OC everyday. I really don't like IWB holsters. I do my best not to flash it, and I cover it with my shirt, but honestly I could care less what the people who see it think. I wonder what they will think if it saves their life one day, which hopefully won't happen. I don't care if you OC or CC just carry and protect yourself. Period.

I'll take a stab at this as lightly as possible;

Those that object to open carry are certainly entitled to their opinion, which I stand behind 1000% percent!!! One of the best things about this country (and forums like these), is the freedom of speech and expression.

As for me, and not to get on a rant here, (but I will), I must admit that my boxers get in a bind when people try to tell me how I “should not be carrying that way”, or, begin a conversation with "You know, statistics show..." …. And please, do not tap me on the shoulder to let me know my legal firearm is exposed. Whether exposed or not, why do you care? Do you, as a law abiding citizen, want to teach me about firearms laws in the state of GA, or do you want to just exert your personal opinion?

Perhaps some folks have not been the unfortunate victims of a crime; perhaps I should take other people’s thoughts into mind and not be so rude….. that’s a thought.......I am known to be an a$$ most of the time, so that wouldn't be a big surprise.

This is where the true conundrum comes into play &#8230;. Is that OWB evil black gun now a target, or a deterrent&#8230;&#8230;. my own hypothesis is: Lets say Mr. Gang banger wants to do harm and is about to commit a crime, Mr. Gang Banger sees Mr. OC with a Glock 10mm OWB on his side, sure, he won't know its a 10mm, and sure, he won’t know if I know how to use it, double tap, etc, etc ..... but does he know it's there?[/COLOR]

I do b'lieve that most of us are fine with you(meaning alla youze) carrying as you see fit. Some folks 'round here do seem to get a tad bent outta shape over what others do, but in general, and certainly ME in particular, I think we LIKE seeing other fellow toters. Now I choose not to show for several reasons: You got to have an ace in the hole - it's my lil secret for "just-in-cases"; I'm not your average handsome spokesmodel so y'all don't want ME representin'. I'd be the pic on the "daily yeller-belly liberal" web page used as a cautionary tale of what a red-neck with a gun looks like. Even in my favorite WalMart Harwaian shirts I just scream "Red Neck"; I have enough stress tryng not to throttle a world fulla jackasses as it is without adding the whining liberal anti-gun cry babies to my list by sportin' hardware for all to see... There are other minor reasons I could cite for MY preference to carry concealed but those 3 are the tops. How you reason it out, what the math looks like for you, your ultimate decision..all up to you. I, for one won't call you a douche..well, unless you are one of the ones who wants to strap an AK over your shoulder to go to Kroger. Then you are practicing douchery purely for the sake of douchery.

The 911 call thing.... Pure sarcasm. Sometimes your message is illustrated well by sarcasm. To me(and speaking for me only) this was not one of them. Perhaps the sarcasm was just overdone to the point that it actually worked against your point. Especially since lib-tards know exactly how to sound like the very voice of reason while they are trying to crush your constitutional rights and demand total control. And since the cops have a DUTY to respond to complaints. Fer instance...let's say you saw the Colorado nutjob lugging weapons to the outside of the theater and placed that 911 call you narrated. Should the cops laugh off your miserable liberal whining or investigate? Hmm.... There is not one thing wrong with the cops doing what WE pay them for and responding, if only to ASK your intentions. So all that good, dripping sarcasm seeems wasted to me.

Poppy, I think the hyper critical posts on here generally stem from two or three things:

1. Young man Cocky - many young guys(as I seem to dimly remember) are very cocky, sure of themselves and adamant about what they perceive as right and wrong. "I have the right to stand here...that damn train better go around me!" That kinda thing. That's the thinking that makes people say they have the right to carry their bazooka when they walk down the street and the cops are nazi-fascist gestapo gubmint stooges for stopping them about it. And

2. Old man Stubborn - Exactly the opposite of but with the same effect as Young man cocky - We been there, done that an' ain't no damn whipper-snapper gonna tell US different. All we'ze trying ta do is dispense a little wisdom iffen these cocky young bull-heads will only listen! Hell, it was US that walked uphill BOTH WAYS to school, they oughtta listen when we speak!

3. Testosterone - Carrying a gun takes courage. It takes a willingness to accept the responsibility to carry around the power to take life to save life. That courage frequently arises from the same well that agression comes from. I know, sometimes when I get all bowed up about something I later realize that even when I was right I could have been just as right while beeing a little less douchery about it.

I see it fairly often now. I don't say a word. You know, I've got out and walked into convenience stores and such with one on my side. It's an oversight on my part when I do.

I know that we all have the right to do so, but I also believe in keeping mine out of sight and off other folks minds. I always have a small pistol in my back pocket, and I keep a subcompact paddle holstered XD chambered in 40 S&W in my work car that I ease under my shirt if I'm in an area of town that I'm not comfortable being in.

I have an M&P kept the same for my pickup. I do carry them on occasion, but only if a feel the need for a little insurance. I just don't like to give anyone anything to be concerned about. So many folks aren't "gun people" and they get freaked at the very sight of one.

I had a bank employee spot my P3AT in my backpocket as I was bent over a few weeks ago. She asked if it was a Ruger or Keltec? I apologized for her seeing it, and she said " it's not a problem with me, I carry one everyday too!" That's my kinda banker!

I guess I'm a douche too. I CC at 3 o'clock on my belt and sometimes, when I reach for something on the top shelf my shirt will ride up. Then once in a while when it comes back down it will catch behind the gun. Once or twice I've not noticed right away and a few minutes later actually noticed that my CC was OC. How embarrassing. It's comforting to know that so many of my fellow gun owners and second amendment supporters would see this and consider me a douche.

I sometimes wonder why I think very highly of this group after all.

Personally, I've walked up to people who were visibly carrying, shook their hand, introduced myself, complimented them on thier carry piece and mentioned the ODT to them. Now that I know they are all douches I may have to reconsider my attitude towards them.

I agree with you here for sure as my EDC is a full size 1911. I do have a iwb holster although I hardly ever use it because it's not that comfortable. I'd say 99% of time I open carry my EDC in a owb paddle hostler because its easy to carry openly and most comfortable that way that and its hotter then hell out and normally I'm wearing a "wife beater" Tank-top therefore OP is most comfortable and its a pain to conceal myEDC witha tank top. So some of the folks here might say I'm a douche or what not but I just don't pay them no never mind as I don't carry to be judged I carry to protect mine and me and those around me where ever I might be.
