When we went surf fishing I lost two lines. Something was big enough to take the bait all the way past the leader and cut the line.
Surf was a little rough so we had to use spider weights to keep the line on the bottom.
I started making my own spider weights.

Did you loose it near laguna beach/carrolon beach area? I hooked a lost rig with a VERY big hook and large line with homemade spider weights.

My boy now has 5 species meeting GA Youth Angler certification. Very proud. I thought he may cry on the last blue gill

You could say that. He says that's enough for 2022. But 2023 we need 10 species, or so he says! I'm not sure I've caught 10 different freshwater fish in GA, let alone big enough to qualify. We could add spotted bass, hybrid striper, trout from the Hooch, another sunfish... maybe a crappie. That begins to sound less like fun and more like work. He got his first smallie and rock bass two weeks ago, but not in GA.
