i'd like to get a throwing knife or maybe two. But I don't want them to look like throwing knives that are dedicated just to that one activity. I'd like to have a well-balanced knife that has some type of handle on it other than bare metal.
And I'd like it to be well-balanced for throwing, but I want it to look like a fixed blade multi-purpose belt knife.

Naturally, it has to be strong and durable to withstand being slapped against a wooden target sideways, backwards, and at weird angles. I can't count on having the perfect point-first impact with the target every throw.

I'm not a knife guy. I don't study how knives are constructed or what knives are known to be good for certain purposes.
Does anybody make the type of knife I'm thinking of?
Can somebody name some specific makes and models or post a link?

I don't want one that looks like this.

I like the "looks" of this skinny little knife, total 6.5" long,

BUT...I don't think that the sharply pointed blade is strong enough
especially the forward half of it. I also agree that a heavier knife
will throw better and stick more consistently.
This is a lightweight and inexpensive little thing.

Cold Steel sells throwin' knives that look like Bowie knives, and are cheap. Can't go wrong with those to learn........

I'm not seeing any of the several "Bowie" knives by Cold Steel being listed as a throwing knife, or suitable for that use.

Do you know which model, or product code, is the one you're speaking of?

Most Cold Steel bowie knives are too expensive to use for throwing.
But this one, the "Black Bear Bowie"

is affordable, at $25.
It does have full tang construction.
It is advertised as being a working knife --something you can use in the field
like a small machete. I wonder how that would work for throwing?
