Time to add another layer to the tin foil hats

I get a couple of calls a month from a foreign sounding gentleman, named Bob, calling from "windows" telling me that my computer is sending them windows errors and I need to let them take control of the computer to fix it. I say like heck you are and he says yes, he is from windows and must do this. I tell him no and as a matter of fact I don't even have a windows computer, I have a Mac with no windows emulator. Actually I don't have a Mac but he doesn't have a good response for that. Last time I was busy and I just shouted at him that he was a fraud and to knock it off. No way in the world I'm letting anyone that cold calls me have access to my system.

LOL. "Remote desktop" has been standard feature on windows machines for close to 10 years. And by close to I mean I think MORE than.

Happily, you DO have to send permission prior to the initial connection for it to work though.
Word...I was gonna say 20 years.

If they get in and get to watch me on camera they'll see me reading ODT, drinking a Dr. Pepper, eating a sandwich, napping, scratching my stuff, working a little and sitting here loading and unloading magazines and talking to the bullets

As long as the bullets don't talk back you should be ok.

Just got finished looking at your laptop OP, you're watching too much porn.

:censored: :behindsofa:

BBguns, bro, this capability has sincerely been around for 10-15 years now. You will have to allow the off-site user permission to " remote in " on your PC, but you can watch from your screen all his/her moves during the remote session. I am sure there is a way or will be a way for " big brother " to remote in without permissions from the site user, but I haven't heard of that capacity at this time.

man i guess i really am not that computer savvy at all. i know nothing about these things other than how to type and google stuff. lol thanks

A reputable company can't just remotely take over your PC unless they have your consent and install some software (like GoToMeeting or Bomgar or such). However if you share your desktop with them, they will see whatever you do, so close the porn windows.

BTW, crooks can take over your PC a whole bunch of different ways, but that's another topic.

Be careful if the kids get on the computer ..I had one try to take my computer over . A pop up came on the screen and my little girl tried to clear it and hit allow she came and told me that the computer wasn't working and I had to shut it down as fast as I could don't know what there where looking for but I didn't have anything saved on that machine anyway thank god my porn was on my laptop lol
