Tipping: I can't be the only one, right?

Yes you are. The owner of the restaurant. You're paying the waitress what the owner should be paying but the federal government has said it is OK not to.
Because it is ok. The federal government shouldn't regulate what people can or can't work for through a mutually agreed upon contract. The crime is that they say it's not ok for everyone else.

I've tipped waitresses at decent restaurants $50-100 before for less than a hours work. It's actually pretty common.

Don't think any restaurant owner is going to pay 50-100/hour.

I pay the restaurant owner for the food. I pay the server for making my day more enjoyable.

I don't want to be served by some minimum wage making employee, I don't want to be anywhere close to minimum wage making employees.

I used to make the same argument about subsidizing restaurant owners then I graduated high school, went to college and took a course on economics.

Right now the going wage for a fast food worked in my area is $15.00 +/-. When you buy a Big Whopper, the cost of all the $15/hr workers is factored into the price, which is why the burgers cost nearly $8.00 now, and a burger and a soft drink can be over $10.

If sit down, table cloth restaurants had to pay the same wage, the owner is simply going to factor that cost in the cost of goods sold - your food. So you are going to meet the wage expectations of the worker one way or another. That's not a justification for the tipping system, which is inherently stupid and inefficient, but you are not "subsidizing" anyone through tips.
I disagree, I will reward superior service, but don’t crappy service.
I think a superior waiter should get paid more, but under you and rommies out look they would all get the same pay.
Sounds kinda socialist to me.

Hell I wish all jobs had this option.

I was at a place last night, happy hour, call brand drinks $4.00. Well brand , 2 for 1 or opt for a double. So, I opted for well doubles, and the bartender was even pouring those heavy. 3 doubles, $12. 00. I knocked one over at our table, she replaced it free. Tipped her a $20.

ECHO?

I’ll just leave this out there…
If you’re one of those non-tipping poors, don’t return to the same place often. You may get a rep as being the dick that always sends his meal/drink back at a club. Service may get worse, and contaminants may enter your food and drink.

Don't misunderstand. I do tip well at restaurants. But that is the ONLY place I will tip.
