In this entire thread there was one reference to one instance where someone knew someone whose brother's friend's uncle heard of someone getting hit by a runaway skate board. These are not the criminals you are looking for.

Would you be ticked off at a group of cyclists who decide to go down some hilly roads on bikes with no brakes for the sake of an adrenaline rush? As much as I sometimes find them annoying they at least obey laws of the road (for the most part), traffic right-of-ways, etc and more importantly can STOP their "vehicle" if required to. These longboarders EXPECT to be given the right-of-way from EVERYONE-cars, pedestrians, even bicyclists, and we're supposed to ignore the fact that they cannot obey the rules of the road because they cannot not stop in an emergency. So I guess expecting other people to obey the rules of the road so that we don't have chaos on them is being "conformist". Instead the cop who came upon these guys was supposed to let them blow by him, execute a u-turn, chase them down, somehow catch them all without endangering not just these punks but passerby's as well, and do then do this by himself. I bet every single person who is ticked at the cop would be REALLY ticked at him for NOT doing what he did if these clowns slammed into their 4 or 5 year-old kid, or their 85-year old mom or grandmother because they couldn't get out of the way of these longboarders way fast enough while crossing a road. Not only that you'd be severely tempted to break a longboard of their heads for doing so. But no-lets gang up on the cop for making a snap decision to stop these guys-after all, the longboarders haven't done any harm YET!!! Heck, why bother with obeying rules of the road, lets all just go the speed we want to drive, stop at a stop sign if we feel like it, drive on whatever side of the road suits us, the rest of the world will just have to yield to you!

I am not a cop basher but you don't get to endanger lives over a misdemeanor or traffic violation. You can't shoot someone in the back while he is running off with a stolen pack of gum.

The question becomes: Was the action taken to stop the crime appropriate and proportionate to the risk presented to the public?

Actually, they do throw spikes in the road or pit maneuver speeders into an acrobatic routine or a ditch on occasion. Bicycles and motorcycles on the road are not illegal and do not pose a safety risk to anyone so long as they obey road laws.

I think the cop's maneuver here was more of a gut reaction than a well thought out decision, but that could've been any motorist attempting to make a left turn without realizing how fast these guys were coming. That's the whole point of why it's illegal in the first place.

You must watch too much TV. Cops do not spike or pit speeders. They sometimes spike and pit during a high speed pursuit, not just ordinary speeders. When they do perform those manuvers, they do it with safety of they criminal and public in mind. My question is, would he do this to a car or motorcycle in the same cirumstances. I would bet NO. He would risk injury to himself. So if he is willing to injure those skateboarders to stop them , then he is a D-bag.

Then the sunuva ***** tried suing ME for his medical bills claiming it was a car v pedestrian.

Long and short, he paid for the truck, both lawyers, did time and still had to pay his own bills

Sounds like this experience was his...not a "brother's friend's uncle". Go to youtube-a couple of videos on there with longboarders hitting people. But I guess they were just staged.

If our Forefathers had smooth paved roads, they too would have smoked a bowl and bombed some hills. This is not about a couple of mommy's basement weed smoking longboarders. This is about Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. This about the Man wanting to harsh their buss in a way that could produce greivous injury to an individual that has as of yet hurt no one in pursuit of Life, Liberty and and the pursuit of a good adrenaline rush. Who can stand and say they have never bent a rule to achieve that state of happiness. Who amongst us can say that. If that is you then I say to you, try it you'll like it!
