Toyota Oil Canister Help Please

• 2019 Toyota Sienna
• Hercules himself installed the plastic filter housing at the last oil change
• I cracked the (still installed) housing trying to remove it

Any advice for how to remove the seized canister? The oil filter wrench that I got at Advance Auto Parts is slipping, and even with a breaker bar I can't budge the canister before the wrench slips.

Also, should I switch to an aftermarket aluminum canister moving forward, or replace it with the OEM plastic?

Run it through with a screw driver and then turn it using the driver

Damn, that’s no fun. They do make different sized filter wrenches, don’t know if that’s your problem.

Is the vehicle cooled off? Hot plastic parts under the hood are harder to remove when hot. Thats been my experience anyways.

Sat for about an hour after it was out running errands. Giving it another go now.

I use oil filter pliers

I had this happen on a corolla. I took off the whole aluminum piece the cap screws into. I had to tap it out ccw with a large punch after i cut off the hex shaped part. Its a pita and can easily damage the Aluminum piece
