Some of y'all may have seen this one posted a couple of days ago..the trapdoor 'carbine'. Well, I got it, and as a guy who never buys altered (ie Bubba'd) milsurps, I have to say this is without doubt one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Someone took a standard Springfield M1873 trapdoor and made a carbine out of it..whoever did the work to this did it right, and it was done quite a long time ago it appears. So check out the rare pseudo-prototype Springfield M1873 cavalry carbine!

Dude I’ve see one of these before. I know a guy with one. His is missing the front sight. When I first saw his I thought someone ruined it, but it had super noce crown job and the patina on it matched the rest of the gun and it had a dovetail where the front sight should go. I tried doing a little research for a few minutes but couldn’t find anything on them. Maybe someone else knows more.

A buddy in Warner Robins had (maybe still has) a very nice full size untouched Trapdoor. Patina all over, but in really great shape. The bore was also surprisingly bright and crisp. I lusted a little after that one.
