The mags may not be (but to that point the pistol isn't either, I often go to California and Washington DC) but I can easily carry a (10) round mag. as an alternative..

So if you're going to a state where 'high capacity' mags aren't legal do you leave the 30 round mags at home each time?
Can you bring an AR into CA that doesn't have a bullet button?

I have a PACK RAT truck box in the bed of my work truck, it's 4' wide and 55"long. It locks with a key as does my tailgate, I transfer anything that I am not "legal to carry" into my pack rat and leave it locked.
