I have an old raggedy ass AR7 rifle with a barrel that's had the front sight ground off by the previous owner. I've seen pics on Google images showing the AR7 turned into a pistol. Not talking about the Charter Arms Explorer pistol. That's a different setup with a different grip and receiver section at the rear.
So my question is this. If I attached an AR style pistol grip and cut the barrel to about 4 " and throw away my original stock is that an NFA violation? So is it a rifle because of the shoulder stock attached to it or is it a rifle because of how the serial number was originally recorded?
