TV screen fix? UPDATE!

Take a close look at the two varistors, look for splits(they should be solid, you can bend them up for a closer look)

Check the top of the caps closely. They are segmented and when they blow, sometimes all you get is a small bulge on the top. They should all look alike.

Ok. Model # is NS-55D420NA16. Here's a couple pics of the upper boards.

Ok, are you good at desoldering and soldering?

Those blue devices with the leads coming out of the bottom are likely the issue. Electrolytic Capacitors leak internally causing all sorts of problems. Luckily, they're inexpensive and easy to get and replace. They will have values written on them, something like 25uf at 100V or whatever. First, write down the values and where they go on the board (should have designators like C101 C102, etc). Then, head to www.mouser.com and search up the values. Also, get at least 105 degree caps, not sure what they put in there to begin with but if they're 85 degree, they were going to fail. I do see a couple of smaller ones near the top of the board, replace them too.

Keep in mind, those capacitors are polarized, they need to go back in correctly or they will actually 'splode! Then you'll have a mess!

You need a good meter and check your 5v signals outputs, one that checks capacitance would help a lot, more likely the video side of things if it's powering up.
