Two injured in accidental gun range shooting

True it could be the writter is ignorant and using the term down range in the sense that the people were in the line of fire of the dropped scatter gun, rather than what we would all call down range. Sounds like Dick Cheney might have a new hunting partner.

And we wonder why people look at us funny and always seem on edge at the range even if we don't do anything stupid.

I often find myself staying behind the firing line when the range is cold just to make sure nobody touches a weapon.

That's why going to public ranges are dangerous!! Everyone needs to practice better gun handling procedures. SCARY

Ive seen more unsafe gun handeling at private ranges than I have seen at public ranges. The difference is that no one goes and says "can you believe what so and so did today while we were shooting on his private property that he invited me to shoot on with him"

I am curious to know what context "Down Range" is being used here. Most here know what down range means,at the range. Maybe the reporter is just saying "Down Range" in the context that the two people were at the other end of the gun when it went off, which technically anywhere can become "Down Range" when you dropped the damn gun.

Maybe if we saw the Police Incident Report it would shed more light on who was standing where. Verses what the DA reporter is trying to describe.

Ranges Public and Private can be just as Dangerious. It's the People at these Ranges you can't trust. I've had Police Officers at a Public Range firing through the Shelter from behind me before. Literally splintering the Shelter Posts with their AR and Shotgun. It only took 1 "WTF are you DOING", "You don't Fire From Behind Somebody" from me, for them to Move on in thier Tactical Crouching Position over to the Pistol side of the Range. Idiots are everywhere. I've been Barrel swept many times at Private and Public ranges, People Racking their Slides or Clearing a Jam. Plain and Simple "Never Trust Anyone" around a Weapon. Always, Stay Alert to your Surroundings.
