I'm moving and know I have to change my lic and GWL. But has anyone else moved from ga to Tn? Do i have to take classes, redo background check etc.... Or is it a simple transfer?

Its been a number of years but when I had a carry permit there was either a 2 or 4 hour training course and you had to gualify with your weapon yearly. This was in Memphis. I'm sure its changed by now. It was much less hassle to get a special deputy I'D from a friendly sheriff which is what I did.
Yes, you have to take a 1 week safety class and then go thru the same process as GA.
Tennessee is a shall issue, but has a classroom and range requirement. Contact Monty at Protective measures.

Look at it this way.... Training class is always a good thing. It might teach you something you forgot, or introduce a new a different way to handle yourself in a crisis. I'm always willing to take classes. BTW: which area of Tennessee are you moving?

It is but when you move there it's only valid for 6 months once you change your license and everything over.
Carter Shooting Supply is in Harrison off 58, they offer the class that Tn requires. I have a few buddies that did theirs there. You will also be close to Shooters Depot and Chattanooga Rifle Club. Harrison Bay is a nice area.
