No I don't think so, you are not checking the weapon, just the buyers. So there shouldn't be any data entered about the gun.
UUMM except this is not what THEY want sir.
The NRA already supported such a system way back when the idea of closing the supposed gun show loophole was tendered. The gun control advocates do not want YOU to have access to the system they want YOU to be forced to take the firearm to an FFL dealer where that FFL dealer must enter the info from the firearm into paperwork to transfer it from seller to buyer. THEY want a record of the transfer and THEY do not care of the tranfers is between YOU and YOUR wife or child, IF a transfer has occured THEY want a record of that transfer even if that record is supposed to stay at the dealers place of business.
