Unwelcomed Suprise at Adventure Outdoors

AO tried to screw me on a Ruger Mini 30 one time. They said the gun “got lost” so I asked for a refund. They said I had to wait until they found it (they never ordered the gun). When I told them I would call the BATF and report that a gun ordered by me was stolen from their store they immediately refunded my money.

That’s not all that uncommon, merchants (small businesses) have tp pay processing fees to the card companies so they pass it on to the customer.

Fine...but having negotiated with a credit card processor I can tell you that AO most likely pays nowhere near 3% in credit card fees.

It’s merely another way to make money.

Very true.

In addition, adding the surcharge to the listed/advertised price is just s****y. Better to factor it in to the price presented...and then offer a 'Cash Discount' for those who pay thusly.

Sorta like how the Atlanta area car dealers advertise a price but it doesn't include the 'Dealer processing fee(s)'.

Some pay more, some pay less...just saying cc fees aren’t uncommon in small business..not in the argument about AO one way or the other...like them or don’t, that’s up to the individual shopper.

As I mentioned in the post, it was a spur of the moment purchase & I probably would have still bought it if they had told me in advance and not waived their customer service policy statement at me. Yes I signed the document after the clerk stated just check the yes boxes. That will teach me to read every thing before signing.
