What the heck is this wooden box for? Doesn’t the meter normally just mount to the side of the house?

Too damn hot outside so I asked for an external A/C vent.
when the siding and soffit goes up it will sit flush with the eave. It’s the bathroom exhaust vent.
I am not a residential electrician, Commercial, But I can honestly say I have never seen that before.
Just another leak point when the vinyl goes up in my opinion
I don't see why they would need a Box, The wood is not pressure treated, And the tape around the window looks like it's for HVAC duct work
The tape is for the windows. I did see that when they installed it. It has a thick rubberized sticky side to it. Once it sticks it’s hard as crap to pull off. It just stretches.
Then probably the right product
But if I was wiring your house up, I wouldn't do you like that with the Box..lol
The tape around the windows is a combination of membrane and aluminum and may be code. ( Not a professional but I volunteer at habitat builds and every opening has this tape. ) I have never seen the box behind the electrical box but maybe they are planning to have brick siding??
