I just added the UMT Powder River trigger, but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet - it is scary responsive, which is fine for casual competitions at the local range, and is still technically "production" class since Springfield offers the trigger from the factory (at least that's what I was told).

I got xdm 5.25 and 3.8 both in 9mil, im absolutely 100% satisfied with both. The factory trigger is functional for the carry gun. I put a prp ultimate match trigger in the 5.25 , takeup is short ,trigger is 3-3.5 "per prp-i havent gauged it", overtravel is super short "user defined at install/fitting", and reset is short. The stock trigger is the only poo poo point for the competition gun. The 5.25 comp was spec'd by Rob L. Prob the greatest competitive handgunner of his era and i think he knocked it outa the park on this one.i think the trigger set up from factory was a formality, they know the comp guys will tweak em in. Ive ran glocks, mp, and the xdm just fits like a glove. As mentioned previously just get one in your hands and run the gun,you'll be convinced.
PS ...you'll crap your pants when you see how accurate the 5.25 is. I owned a wilson combat compact cqb and im waaaaaaaay more accurate with the springer 5.25

The prp install takes about 45min to an hr on your first one. TAKE YOUR TIME. Remove material slowly when stoneing the sear and fileing the the overtravel stop. You can take material away ,but you cant put it back if you mess it up and get greedy. Watch the you tube vids several times. The play it section by section as you install and if you have a slight bit of mechanical ability you'll be GTG

Thanks for all the info, fellas! I was nearly set on the M&P, but now with all the positive reviews for the XDm, I'm starting to rethink this whole thing. For those that have used the PRP trigger setup, did it require any special fitting?
By the way, if I go the XDm route, it would be a 9mm XDm Compact 3.8 Bi-Tone. I'll want compact carry with the option of 19+1 capacity.

Yes it will need some fitting. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on stones so I went to Harbor Freight and picked up some sand paper in 800, 1000, 1200 and 1500 and used it to fit the parts. I have installed about a dozen PRP kits and had one that was drop in ready with the exception of the over travel stop. I had two or three that needed the sear fitted for the grip safety to function and a couple that had to be fitted for propped reset. Most of the sears had to be fitted on one side to allow for the sear to move freely without moving the safety. This sounds like a lot of work but its not. It takes me about 30 minutes to install the kit and most of that time is spent on the over travel stop. You have to go slow on the over travel stop so that you don't take to much material off. It won't hurt to take to much but it will cause you to have some over travel which is what your trying to avoid.
Watch the PRP video on YouTube and you will see its not that difficult.
There is no doubt (in my mind) that the XDm is the winner here. Great feeling handgun, excellent shooter, good trigger b4 upgrade,
